Her research centers on providing active learning to large numbers of students and the role technology can play in improving student learning and retention. As the coordinator of Engineering Statics, she has developed extensive materials to allow students to excel both in and out of class. The online environment includes short videos for each topic, pre- and post-class quizzes, full class notes, and multiple example videos for each class in a gamified environment. In-class demonstrations and active problem-solving sessions challenge students to apply basic concepts to widely varying problems in an environment where they can get help from their teammates, instructors, and undergraduate learning assistants. Her new focus is on entrepreneurial-minded learning.
